RED TAILED HAWKS

Life Cycles

The breeding season of the hawk begins in March and runs through May. The Red Tail begins to breed and reproduce at the age of three. During courtship, both the male and female engage an ariel display where they glide and soar in circles and then fold their wings in and plummet to the tree tops. Both the male and female build a nest  with sticks either high in a tree  or on a cliff. The female lays 2 to 3 eggs or and incubates them for about 30 days. The male brings the female food while she sits on her nest. At about 45 weeks old , the young chicks learn to fly and hunt for themselves.
