Predators and Species Survival Status
That is a Great Horned Owl. A Great Horned Owl is one of the predators of the Red Tailed Hawk. The Golden owl species is also known to feed on Red Tailed Hawk. Some humans would hunt the bird, sometimes to eat and others to remove them. That was then, now this bird is protected from harassment by the United States Bird Treaty Act.so it is no longer on the endangered species lists.
